Description

Terminal-like Display plugin allows you to present your content like it is displayed in terminals (command line interface)!

Copying and pasting texts from terminals is common in tutorials where a command line interface is necessary (for example in various Linux tutorials). This plugin aims directly to users writting such tutorials, allowing them to familiarize users with the command line interface.

Furthermore, since the formation of the text is maintaned multiple empty spaces or tabs do not collapse to a single space, thus allowing you to present your text as it is meant to be displayed.

Installation

Instructions for Joomla! 1.5

Step 1: Login to the Administration Panel (http://yourdomain/administrator)

Step 2: Go to the Extension Manager (Extensions → Install/Uninstall) Extension Manager

Step 3: Browse for the downloaded file (1) and once selected press the Upload File & Install button (2) Browse & Install

Step 4: If the installation was successful, you should see something like this

Congratulations, you have installed the Terminal-like Display plugin. Please move on to the Usage tab for usage instructions.

Usage

Step 1: Go to the Plugin Manager (Extensions → Plugin Manager) Plugin Manager

Step 2: Find the Content - Terminal-like Display entry and click on its name Terminal-like Display

Step 3: Enable the plugin Enable Plugin

Step 1: Go to the Plugin Manager (Extensions → Plugin Manager) Plugin Manager

Step 2: Find the Content - Terminal-like Display entry and click on its name Terminal-like Display

Step 3: Enable the plugin Enable Plugin

Save the changes and create a new article. Enter your text within { terminal }...{ /terminal } tags and that's it! Please be sure to remove empty spaces after opening "{" and before closing "}" brackets.

Issues:

The TinyMCE editor found in Joomla! removes the empty spaces found in the beginning of a line. A workaround is to add a character (does not matter which) before the empty spaces. In the above output, we have added a dot in the beginning of the last two lines, thus maintaining the empty spaces and presenting the text correctly.

Please always use the latest version of the plugin. To upgrade first uninstall the previous version and install the latest one.
